Costa Rica is full of beauty everywhere you look. And for a Chicago native, the weather is absolutely perfect! Even though I was there during the rainy season, it didn’t rain much during the day. And, it meant that all the plants were still a nice, lush green. Figuring out my Costa Rica wardrobe during the rainy season was a bit of a challenge though.
Going in the rainy season, I wasn’t sure what to pack and ended up bringing way more than I needed (as usual). Here are the things I actually ended up wearing though.
Here’s what to pack in your costa rica wardrobe:
Even at night it didn’t get too cool and only once did I need a light jacket. The jeans, sweater, and sweatpants I brought stayed in my suitcase the entire trip. Other than that, the clothes I wore most were airy dresses, shorts and sleeveless tops. And, of course, plenty of bikinis–it seemed like acceptable attire no matter where I went considering how laid back Costa Rica is.
Included in my wardrobe were also a few of my own designs, which I finally found the courage to wear in public! People were super nice and complimentary of them, which was one of the best feelings in the world.
Which shoes should you bring?
In terms of shoes, I was either barefoot or in sandals the entire time. But, I also didn’t do any intense hiking. Definitely bring a good pair of tennis shoes if that’s something you’re planning on.
One last thing, be prepared for the fact that Costa Rica is extremely humid and it takes everything a while to dry. That may mean you’ll need extra swimsuits and towels. And, try to remember to air out your clothes to keep them from getting musty.
Without further adieu, here are a few of my favorite outfits from the trip.
