Hey guys!
I hope you’re all staying healthy and enjoying the last little bit of summer. My summer was cut a little short as I went from 90 degree weather in Chicago to rainy London where fall seems to just be beginning. Anyway, my trip to London leads me to the point of this post.
Today I wanted to tell you about a few updates in my life and that are coming on the website!
First off, I haven’t posted in a few weeks and there’s good reason for it. I’ve been having some technical difficulties on my website that have kept me from posting the way I want to. Turns out, I need to redesign the entire site.
Luckily, I actually love doing the web design side of things, so I’m super excited for the redesign! It will, however, take a bit of time to get up and running. So if anything on my site seems wonky or looks off in the next week, that’s probably why.
As for the second update, I’m currently in the middle of my two-week quarantine in London because next week, I’ll start grad school at Cambridge!! (Don’t worry, the photos in this post of me out and about in the city are from the last time I was here).
I’m super excited to get started but also pretty nervous if I’m being honest. It’s been a few years since I’ve been in school, so it’ll definitely be an adjustment.
I’m also sort of still in disbelief about the fact that I’ll be attending Cambridge at all. This wasn’t my plan for 2020, but I guess no one’s year is really going as planned. How have all of you been dealing with the unexpected changes?
At the end of the day, I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to go to Cambridge. It’s just that, at this point, I was expecting to be traveling, continuing to work remotely and building my social enterprise. But when the pandemic hit, I didn’t know how to keep organically moving forward with the business. So, that’s when I decided to apply to business school.
But now I’m at the point where I’m asking myself, “How the heck did I get here??”
No matter the reason though, I can’t wait to get started with grad school and am trying to embrace the changes as smoothly as possible. Anyway, that ended up being a bit of a rant, but that’s what’s going on with me!
To keep myself busy during quarantine, I brought my ukulele with me, as well as a mini sewing machine! It definitely doesn’t have all the capabilities of my regular machine, but this cute little 5-lb machine is doing the trick for now.
Here’s where I bought it if you’re interested in getting one as well. It’s perfect for travel and even has 12 different stitches.
And, with the first week of grad school being in-person, I figured I’d probably need professional clothes. So, I went thrifting and am creating an entire week’s worth of professional clothing for around $50. We’ll see how it turns out!
So keep an eye out for that video if you want to learn how to build a professional wardrobe on a budget.
Welp, that pretty much sums up everything I wanted to tell you about. If any of you have been to Cambridge and have any tips for me while I’m there, please let me know! I can’t wait to explore that beautiful campus, but aside from that, I’m not sure what else there is to do at the moment.
Let me know if you have any tips!
In the meantime, don’t forget to check back here to see all of the website changes and look out for posts coming in the next week or two. Otherwise you can check out my more recent posts like how to make this saucy swimsuit top or how to build a sustainable wardrobe on a budget.
That’s all for now! Thanks for reading and stay healthy out there.
Love,
Emily
